Senior Server and Networks Engineer

Due to in-house promotions and expansion into new support areas, we are looking for keen and committed individuals to join our friendly IT support team.

 

Are you suitable?

For this hugely rewarding role we are looking for a minimum of 8 years’ experience in high level technical roles within server/networking, demonstrating a solid understanding of all aspects of TCP/IP, Windows Servers, VPNs and more.

This is a highly technical and key role at ITS Digital, helping to support over 270 sites across Beds and Herts. As such, we are looking for a very collaborative, positive and pro-active individual to fill the position. Whilst discipline to follow and maintain agreed technical processes is essential, the role does allow for creativity and change as we look to develop and enhance all our supported customers.

Driving licence and own vehicle is also advantageous

 

What’s involved?

To excel in this position, the successful candidate would ideally have the following skills:

·         Solid understanding of Windows Server

o   Deployment, maintenance, and patching of Windows Server systems

o   Group Policy management and knowledge of how this applies to both servers and workstations

o   Server and workstation patching via Windows Server or RMM

o   Powershell experience

o   DFS experience

·         Solid understanding of TCP/IP networks

o   Experience with configuring firewalls and routers.

o   Experience with network switching and VLANs

o   IPSEC VPN tunnel building and maintenance between networks

·         Ability to diagnose, fault find and resolve more complex server and networking issues

·         An excellent ability to communicate and work with team members

 

 

 

 

 

 

Experienced applicants may have additional knowledge in the following:

·         Network monitoring and management systems

·         Microsoft 365 and Azure experience

·         Ability to provision or configure Azure AD Tenants

·         Hyper-V virtualisation

 

Training and environment

 

Training is usually offered with Microsoft Exam Certifications in mind. Initially you will learn from others in the 3rd line team, following their day-to-day activities. Once familiar with the role, you will then progress to managing customer sites, identifying opportunities to improve the service we offer.  Help will always be nearby, and we strongly believe in encouraging all staff to see through difficult solutions with the assistance of more experienced staff if needed.

Hours of work

3rd line covers the hours of 8.00am to 6.30pm. Hours of work are negotiable on the following times:

8.00am – 4.30pm
9.00am – 5.30pm
10.00am – 6.30pm

 

The initial working times are 9am - 5.30pm with flexible working hours available after the probation period.

 

Salary & Benefits

Based on relevant experience & qualifications:

30k-38k per annum.

In addition, higher salaries will be considered for any applicant demonstrating 10 years+ in 3rd line, networking and/or server roles

ITS Digital have a corporate pension plan which new employees will be automatically enrolled in, unless opted out of.

 

In addition, employees are incorporated into our employee health insurance plan after their first year of employment.

After the first 6 months, additional evening and weekend work is available to new staff. This is paid in addition to your standard salary but is purely optional at this stage.

 

Holiday

The holiday entitlement is 28 days including bank holidays accrued over the calendar year.
